  • Inhibits bacterial colonization of the suture by such known pathogens as E. coli, Klebsiellapneumoniae, Staph aureus, Staph epidermidis, Methicillin Resistant S. aureus, and Meththicillin Resistant S. epidermidis.***
  • In vivo testing has demonstrated the ability of MONOCRYL* Plus Antibacterial Suture to kill such bacteria as E. coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae.***

VICRYL* Plus (polyglactin 910), the first and only Antibacterial Braided Suture and new MONOCRYL* Plus (poliglecaprone 25) Antibacterial Monofilament Suture, both contain Irgacare** MP, a pure form of Triclosan, which is a proven, broad-spectrum antibacterial.
 

  • In vitro studies demonstrate a zone of inhibition. In vivo studies demonstrate that Triclosan on the suture inhibits bacterial colonization of the suture.
  • Triclosan has been effectively used in consumer products for over 30 years.
